Why we started Rainbow Unity
Rainbow Unity was born from both personal experience and a clear need within the LGBTQ+ community. As someone who has experienced the search for a space to feel seen and accepted, I understand the isolation when such a space doesn't exist. Jodi repeatedly witnessed people seeking connection, education, and support with no clear path. This inspired us to build something meaningful. Rainbow Unity is more than a platform; it's our response to an unmet need. We aim to create a community where every LGBTQ+ individual has access to the resources, relationships, and support they deserve. We've spent five years building this foundation, and now it's time to grow.
Our core beliefs and principles
At Rainbow Unity, our work is guided by non-negotiable principles. First, accessibility: support, education, and community should be available to all, regardless of financial means. Our free tier ensures belonging isn't gatekept by cost. Second, authenticity: we aim to build a genuinely safe space, engaging in honest conversations, amplifying true voices, and acting with intention. Third, education: an informed community is an empowered one. Through workshops, interviews, and resources, we provide content that helps people progress. Finally, sustainability: Rainbow Unity is built to last, a movement designed to continue making an impact for years to come.
Making a real difference
The difference we aim to make is deeply personal. It's the individual who joins a Zoom call feeling alone and leaves feeling connected. It's the person who attends a workshop and gains practical tools for their life. It's the young person who discovers our community and, for the first time, feels a genuine sense of belonging. We are intentionally building a platform to consistently create these moments. On a broader scale, we envision Rainbow Unity becoming a trusted resource that bridges historical gaps for the LGBTQ+ community in education, mental wellness, professional development, and peer support. We want people to come to Rainbow Unity not just in challenging times, but also when they are thriving, because community is essential in all stages of life. The infrastructure we build today will serve generations to come.
