Rainbow Unity traces its origins back to an earlier initiative known as the Transgender Coalition. Founded by Jodi, a dedicated advocate within the transgender community, the organization initially centered on creating support, visibility, and resources specifically for transgender individuals.
For approximately five years, Jodi has worked alongside various nonprofit organizations, contributing to advocacy efforts, community outreach, and support systems for trans individuals. Through this work, she developed a deeper understanding of both the needs within the community and the gaps that still existed.
Recognizing the importance of broader inclusion, Jodi made a pivotal decision: to expand the coalition into something larger—something that could serve not just one segment of the LGBTQ+ community, but everyone. That vision became Rainbow Unity.
A Strategic Partnership
To bring this expanded vision to life, Jodi turned to one of her closest and most trusted collaborators—Solomon.
Solomon brings a strong background in public relations and digital marketing, with roughly five years of experience spanning social media production, social media marketing, and affiliate marketing. His expertise lies in building visibility, crafting messaging, and leveraging digital platforms to grow communities and brands.
Where Jodi brought grassroots advocacy and community trust, Solomon brought infrastructure, strategy, and scalable growth. Together, they formed a partnership that blends mission-driven work with modern digital execution.
Rooted in Mahoning County
Rainbow Unity was officially established in Mahoning County, with a strong focus on serving the Youngstown, Ohio area. The founders chose this region intentionally—recognizing both the need for inclusive community spaces and the opportunity to build something impactful at a local level before scaling outward.
Their approach reflects a hybrid model: grounded locally, but designed for digital expansion.
